for YOU everyday

Welcome to LE Heart Center where our priority is to evaluate our patients from a holistic point of view, assessing any heart-related issues within the broader context of overall health, and responding appropriately. At LE Heart Center, we understand that while critically important, the heart is one of the many organs necessary for good health. Therefore, we carefully evaluate any condition within the greater context of our clients' lives and well-being. In addition to that Dr. Holly Nobil, Doctor of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture Physician leads our holistic and natural approach with herbal and natural remedies for healing.

We maintain an excellent referral network to make sure you only get sent to providers that Dr. Elkayam would use for his own family members.

That is how we differentiate ourselves - by making "caring" more than just a word and believing that support and reliability are as important as prescribed medical interventions and treatment.

We invite you to explore our site and to contact us to see how we can offer you the very best care, support, education and options for your health.

We look forward to working with you toward your optimum health.

Dr. Lior U. Elkayam, M.D.  & Staff

At LE Heart Center, we believe in taking full advantage of the best that modern medicine has to offer while always trying to incorporate natural and alternative therapies. We offer comprehensive preventive care, a full range of diagnostic testing, as well as select holistic services.

Approach to Healing

Holistic medicine is a broad term without a unified, agreed upon approach. While mostly trained in Western medicine, Dr. Elkayam believes that many therapeutic approaches were left out of mainstay medical school teaching and resident/fellowship training.

For many centuries "physicians" were lending a healing hand prior to the advent of modern medicine and procedures that come with their host of side effects, contra-indications and harmful interactions. Being able to tap into all forms of healing including Chinese medicine, vibrational and energy based healing, behavioral and cognitive therapy, allows for better and longer lasting results.

Technology has certainly allowed us to enhance Western medicine with the advent of life saving procedures for heart attacks and non-surgical replacement of narrowed heart valves. At the same time technology has also allowed us to better enhance our Holistic techniques. A few examples include both oral and intravenous chelation, external counter pulsation devices, modulators of our bodies' electrical charges, and tailored exercise programs with oxygen therapy.

In this modern era of medicine, the body of evidence of clinical benefit is growing for such techniques.  That is why we believe in carefully and selectively employing them in our practice, to augment traditional therapies for our patients' wellbeing, as that is always our first priority.

I am so grateful that we found Dr. Elkayam ! He is very thorough in his analysis of all symptoms. He is current with all of the latest technology and theories  regarding heart issues. He spends time with you and takes a personal interest. I am very fortunate that he is working at Mt. Sinai Hospital."

I am so happy that you are in our lives!

I have been a patient of Dr. Elkayam for several years and have always found him to be an extremely knowledgeable, kind and caring physician. He always takes the time to answer any and all questions and thoroughly explains procedures, medications, etc. I consider myself extremely lucky to have him as my doctor.

Had my initial contact with Dr. Elkayam today and found him to be a truly engaging and pleasant person. His patient rapport is excellent and he explains everything in terms I could understand. In addition, he listens to me which is always unique. I am supremely confident in him as a cardiac specialist, and greatful to have him as my doctor.

-Dave O. , Miami FL

We believe in looking at the patient as a whole and are therefore open to applying disciplines or techniques outside of traditional western medicine which have proven effective for many people and for many years. We are fortunate today that western and holistic medicine are beginning to merge into a more powerful and effective integrative approach. Combining the best of each area, in conjunction with nutrition and exercise, allows us to live healthier, longer, more productive and enjoyable lives.

Cardiovascular System

At the "heart" of matters is of course our cardiovascular system. Depending on your age, risk factors, and symptoms, we will order appropriate cardiovascular diagnostic testing which may include a stress test, echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart), and other non-invasive testing in order to make sure that your heart is in good health.

Having performed and interpreted hundreds of stress tests, being board certified in echocardiography and cardiovascular medicine, and, perhaps most importantly, possessing a consistent track record of providing real attention and medical partnership to his patients, you can be assured that your heart is in good hands with
Dr. Elkayam.

Endocrine System

Probably the second or perhaps even most important organ system in our bodies, is the endocrine system , as every other system requires it for optimal function.

For example, the stressful pace of today's society can be very taxing on our thyroid and adrenal glands which are vital for complete and sustained health. Many patients often complain of fatigue, subtle memory problems, "not feeling sharp," having a slow metabolism, and so on.

Sub-clinical or even overt hypothyroidism is unfortunately an under-diagnosed and under-treated problem.  Offering saliva hormone level testing, nutritional supplements and even intravenous vitamin C infusions in conjunction with proper nutrition and exercise can help restore and keep a high functioning endocrine system.

Dr. Elkayam has established a highly trained, well mannered and experienced referral network for other organ systems that may be beyond his scope of expertise. Be assured that any physician he may refer you to is one that he would use for his own family member.
